The same questions keep popping up over and over again from clients while doing this job, so here are the best!

If I have purposely requested you come and read this blog post, then to be honest, I’m fed up of dealing with you and want you to stop talking to me. Of course, that’s not true, after previous jobs in retail and hospitality, I have learnt a thing or two about customer service. Video production is an unknown step for most companies when they are shopping around for their promotional video, so I’ll try and answer the most common queries that keep being thrown in my direction. If the question you have does not appear here, send an email to info@shootonsight.co.uk and I’ll be happy to help.

How much does it cost?

About 7 Grand.

How much does it really cost?

I see you glazed over that first answer, and so you should. Without knowing what exactly you want, It is quite difficult for me to put a price on it. Although I know how annoying it is when you ask somebody for a quote and they say “well… it depends really…”, leaving you completely in the dark.

But it’s true, a 3 minute video could range from £150 up to the £000’s depending what you are after. The easiest way for me to give clients a rough quote, is if they have seen a video elsewhere that is similar to what they are looking to achieve. I can look at this and assess the length of time that it would take to make a similar video. Knowing what you want to be shown in a video and how many locations need to be filmed will help greatly. The price is also raised if we need to get a professional voice over, actors, extensive graphics or pay licenses for some music.

Usually however, if you can provide me with as much detail as possible, I can return the favour in pricing the job for you instantly.

So yeah… About 7 Grand.

How long will it take?

If you have any deadlines that need to be met with the video, letting me know straight away will give us the best chance to meet it. As soon as we have decided that your video production is going ahead, I will try and set some concrete dates for filming. After this, I will be able to give you a timeframe if necessary for when the video will be ready. This could range anywhere from a few days to a matter of months, depending on the complexity and urgency. While in the editing stage, there will be questions that are thrown up by me, so it will help if I can have a reliable point of contact to answer these queries, if this doesn’t happen, the final date of delivery could be pushed back.

Where do you film?

Location is not an issue, I travel all over the UK making fantastic videos for companies, still waiting for that call to pack my camera and hot foot it over to Hawaii for a shoot though.

How many revisions do we have?

The finished video is rarely perfect after the first draft (usually as clients have had other ideas, or something hasn’t worked as planned, not just down to my incompetence, honest!), so I generally offer as many revisions as is needed until your video production is exactly how you need it to be. After the video has been signed off however, if you need something changing a few months down the line, you may have to incur costs, so it’s best to get it right straight away!

How are the videos delivered to us?

More often than not, most videos I produce are for primary use on the web, so videos will be sent in the best format for this. At the moment, most videos are 1920 x 1080 MP4. If you require something different to this, just let me know. You will be sent a link that will allow you to download the video to your computer. Alternatively, I can provide it on DVD. These options are very much open to discussion though.

When do we pay?

The full 100% is payed after the video has been signed off, I will invoice you after this date. For longer term projects, a payment plan may be set up beforehand.

There may very well be more burning questions that need to be asked, so if you have anything to add, please let me know, or ask any questions below.
